URBAN VILLAGE ON DISPLAY, PRESERVATION OF THE URBAN FOOTPRINT: BAISHIZHOU PERFORMING ARTS AND CULTURAL CENTER by Atitaya Taratai

Baishizhou performing arts and cultural center is a performance space with a public space  for both tourists and Baishizhou locals. The project aims to display and preserve the footprint of the oldest urban village in Shenzhen by bringing tourists into the site to experience the uniqueness of this area as a new tourist attraction of Shenzhen. The materials that are used in the building and also the combination of the existing building and the new intervention create an ironic way to preserve Baishizhou urban village.
