'Through the Portal' : Redefining Performance Piece by Smith Wararatchai
"Performance" to me is redefined as the balance between the front stage (upstage) and the backstage dynamics. From this idea, I have choreographed a performance showing one aspect of the concept by using the idea of exposure - allowing the audiences to be exposed to the normal condition of the site. The performance also challenges the idea of normal sightline by having a directly vertical sightline for the piece.

Umbrella performance : Redefining Performance By Suarpha Vangvasu
A different arrangement of stage and seating in each precedent study made me think of the question of "What is performance?" As all the case studies were called Performance spaces, there is some intersection between these kind of buildings.
1. A stage in performance space
2. A constraint of plot that the performer has to follow
3. Relationship between two major groups of people: audience and performer. The relationship is an action and reaction between one other that sometime produces an 'unexpected situation'
So this redefining performance concept is to create a metaphor of the 'fundamentals of performance' and to show the relationship between audience and performer. Below is the diagram showing the list of 'fundamentals of performance', performance plan and elevation, and the experimental video.

Virtual Stereoscopic Display: Redefining Performance, by Ekkrit Suwanwong
I redefined the concept of "visual performance", based on the studies of precedents of performance spaces, including traditional theaters, concert halls, musical auditoriums, etc. (Specific precedents are referred in Phase 1 - Performance Space Precedents)
It is an experimental design that attempts to break away from the traditional way of audience interaction within performance spaces. This Virtual Stereoscopic Display involves the audience's interaction via dynamic positions and stereoscopic visuals through red-cyan 3D glasses, in order to perceive the total performance that is being displayed virtually in the center. Consequently, by visual performance, audiences will develop their visual perception and the total experience of the whole performance through 2D anaglyph images representing the content of the performance.

On 25th February 2014 was the presentation day in which I have documented a space performing itself with the audiences who are interacting with the design space.

Different Viewport, Different Visual Perception : Redefining Performance By Atitaya Taratai
Because the different seating designs of theatres or stadiums create different viewports, the audiences perceive different visual perceptions from different viewports.
I experimented with different viewports by positioning the performers into a pattern. These diagrams show the rotation of each viewport.

"Performance = ? : Redefining Performance by Samascha Samcharoen"
Witness an attempt to redefine what a performance really is.
Redefinition of performance:
Performers don't only perform, but become an audience at the same time who spectates the feedback from the actual audiences.
While audiences are spectating the performance; at the same time they are also performers who give feedback to the performer.
The relationship between performers and audiences are therefore interrelated. Everyone is actually a performer/audience at the same time and is not considered to be only one or the other. The boundaries between the two are blurred.

Performers and audiences are consider to be the two crucial elements of performance but they are always considered to be two separated elements.

Redefining Performance By Patlapa Davivongsa
With my personal interest of interactive performances, I wanted to experiment with peoples' perception of hearing. I used a software called Garage Band to create a sound clip of a scenario for the audience to listen to. By adjusting the volume of each track, I created the sense of space for audiences to imagine, and each of the audience's experience of the space are different according to their own imaginations.

Stage of Audience : Redefining Performance by Suthiwat Yanawiboot
Inspired by the studies of Precedents from Phase 01, about Relationship between Performer and Audience in spatial terms (stage and seat).
In this Phase, Redefining Performance, I came up with rules for participants to transform the space through activity represented as a performance.
Consequently, participants will experience the Different Perceptions and Relationships of Space and Body.

Phase03 : Redefining Performance By Bunyawat Thannipat
The Light Extraction
According to Phase One, light is the main part to
create performance and control audience viewpoint. Therefore, I extracted the concept of light to create a performance in which the
contrast of light color makes each performer become priority in different
times of the performance, while also controlling the performer's movement in space.
